This rewarding position will:
- Coordinate Community Services to assist our participants to maintain their level of functioning in the community.
- Provide community outreach to local seniors regarding the adult day program as a vehicle to allow seniors to age in place thus allowing them to remain in a community setting.
- Provide community education programs for senior service agencies regarding the Adult Day Health Care Program.
Compensation
In AmeriCorps, Members receive a Living Allowance as compensation for their service.
- Graduate students receive $3,500 per year of half time service in assisting with "aging in place" (900 flexible hours).
- Retirees receive living allowances of $4,700 per year of half time service in volunteer recruitment or staff training (900 flexible hours).
Members will also receive an education award of $2,362.50 after their service obligation is complete.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent,
- Be 18 years of age or older,
- Be an American Citizen/Permanent Resident,
- Be able to devote 900 flexible hours over the next year toward service (tantamount to a half-time position),
- Have not been convicted of a criminal offense (all potential members are required to undergo a criminal background check), and
- Have or be willing to get certain required immunizations.
